BurnCap exists to stop billing surprises — so our own billing is meant to be predictable. Here's exactly how plan changes, cancellations, and refunds work.

How billing works
Paid plans — Starter ($19/month) and Growth ($39/month) — are billed monthly in advance through Lemon Squeezy, our merchant of record. Lemon Squeezy handles your payment details and issues your invoices; BurnCap never stores your card number. See our pricing page for what each plan includes.
The free plan
The Free plan is free forever and needs no credit card. You can stay on it as long as you like; you only pay if and when you choose to upgrade.
Upgrades & downgrades
- Upgrades (Free → paid, or Starter → Growth) take effect immediately. A mid-cycle tier upgrade is prorated, so you only pay the difference for the remainder of the period.
- Downgrades (Growth → Starter, or paid → Free) are scheduled for the end of your current billing period. You keep your current plan and features until it renews, then the lower price applies. You can undo a scheduled downgrade any time before it lands.
Cancelling
You can cancel at any time from Settings → Plan & billing → Manage billing, which opens the Lemon Squeezy customer portal. When you cancel:
- You keep paid access until the end of the period you’ve already paid for.
- After that, your workspace reverts to the Free plan — your account and data stay.
- Because Free has a shorter history window, usage older than the Free retention period may no longer be visible, but nothing is deleted beyond that.
Refunds
If something isn’t right, email us within 14 daysof a charge and we’ll make it right. Because Lemon Squeezy is the merchant of record, approved refunds are processed by them back to your original payment method. We generally don’t refund partial months after a renewal, but we look at every request in good faith — reach out and tell us what happened.
Failed payments
If a renewal payment fails, your subscription enters a short grace period (shown as a banner in-app) while Lemon Squeezy retries. If it can’t be collected, the workspace moves to the Free plan until billing is restored.
